We are delighted to announce some changes to our Board of Trustees:

Carrie Newlands

Miss Carrie Newlands FDSRCS FRCS(Ed) is a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, and current Co- Chair of the Regional Skin Cancer Specialist Multidisciplinary Team.

She introduced the important staging technique of sentinel node biopsy for patients with head and neck melanoma to RSCH in 2014, and since then has worked closely with Kate Upshon looking after our many patients.

Carrie and Mazhar Ajaz have worked together for many years, and she is excited to be working with him as our newest Trustee.

Natalie Waghorn

Natalie Waghorn

Natalie was diagnosed with melanoma in December 2014 and was treated at the Royal Surrey under the care of both Miss Newlands and Dr Ajaz until December 2017.  During this time she received some of the most up-to-date treatments which had fantastic results.

Natalie is our new Treasurer, and she notes that becoming involved with Story FMR is a great way of giving something back by helping the dedicated research teams who are constantly striving to find advancements in treatments so that more people can have the response she has had.

Paula Keyes

Paula Keyes

In announcing Natalie as our new Treasurer, we would at the same time like to thank Paula, who decided not to seek re-election at the end of her first term with us and has relinquished the role.

We cannot thank her enough for setting up the charity’s accounts so robustly – we wouldn’t be where we are today without Paula’s help and guidance.  We wish her the very best for the future, and look forward to seeing her at some of our future events – thank you Paula!
