29th March 2017 saw the IJ Global Awards Europe & Africa Dinner at London’s prestigious Guildhall.
Dr Mazhar Ajaz and I were privileged to attend as IJ’s guests to introduce our new charity and join a silent auction to raise money in memory of Steve Brundle, who had been a judge for the awards a few years before.
It was a splendid evening for Story FMR.
As always, the event was a glittering occasion, celebrating high achievement in the world of infrastructure project finance. Jon Whiteaker, Editor of IJ, introduced the silent auction with a moving tribute to Steve, who was well known, liked and respected by a number of those present.
The auction involved a myriad of lots, from celebrity signatures to holidays to experiences. Many of the lots were displayed in the foyer, and staff from Impulse Events were on hand to guide bidders and ensure that everyone enjoyed the experience.
Mazhar and I would like to thank everyone involved at IJ, including Jon, Sarah Tame, Editor in Chief, and Sarah Alderson, organiser, for their hospitality. We had a splendid evening and are delighted that the silent auction raised over £5,200 for Story FMR. A huge “thank you” to everyone who took part. The money will be wisely used towards funding research into melanoma and other skin cancers, and we very much look forward to reporting back on progress to the team at IJ next year.
