This project is currently being carried out in cervical cancer as this malignancy presents the opportunity for multiple biopsies of the tumour during treatment with radiation. We are interested to see how the tumour changes during radiotherapy, and in particular whether it becomes susceptible to treatment with immunotherapy. We are working up tests for sensitivity to immunotherapy with applicability to melanoma and a range of other malignancies. These include certain cell surface markers, the amount of mutations in the tumour DNA, and the number and types of immune cells that are present in the tumour.
